Leroy Sane returned from injury

Leroy Sane is working with Germany star legend Miroslav Klose to sharpen his finishing power, Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick has revealed. He returned from injury in style on Saturday. He stepped off the bench to score a stunning long-range effort in Bayern’s 5-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. The 24-year-old cut himself inward from the right and shot inside the far post from the edge of the area, continuing his incredible start back in the Bundesliga. The former Manchester City star has scored one and created two more in the debut against his old club Schalke. And will now look to maintain his momentum after missing Bayern’s last three games. “He worked hard and did some training with Miroslav Klose, and that helped him,” Flick told reporters.

Miroslav Klose is Hansi Flick’s first-team assistant coach from May

“We were all delighted with his debut so that he can continue like this. It can be seen that he wants to improve his fitness. We are delighted with his attitude and mentality”. Klose has scored over 250 goals in his club career, including 53 in 150 games for Bayern Munich. And he is always Germany’s top goalscorer with 71 strikes for his country. He retired in 2016 after five years at Lazio and returned immediately to Bayern Munich, initially taking over the club’s Under-17 team. He was announced as Flick’s first-team assistant coach in May 2020 and received support to become a manager in his own right eventually. At the moment, Klose works primarily with Bayern’s forwards, including Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish star has reached new heights in the past 12 months. And on Saturday he set a new Bundesliga record, becoming the fastest player ever to reach ten goals in a season.

However, it wasn’t all good news for Bayern vs Frankfurt. While Sane is back from injury, left-back Alphonso Davies is facing up to two months on the sidelines after injuring his ankle ligaments in the opening minutes of the game. Davies went over on the ankle off the ball and was replaced by Lucas Hernandez. “He has a ligament injury on his right ankle,” Flick told reporters after the game. “He twisted and torn a ligament, and a ligament was slightly torn off. We expect Davies to be out for six to eight weeks.”
