English Premier LeagueManchester City eyeing Caglar Soyuncu
Soyuncu

The season might only be a few weeks old but already clubs across Europe are plotting for the January transfer window.

Soyuncu

Manchester City is eyeing up Leicester City center-back Caglar Soyuncu. Pep Guardiola looks to bolster his defensive options following injuries to Aymeric Laporte and John Stones.

As a result, Fernandinho and Nicola Otamendi played as his central defensive partnership.

the 23-year-old Turkey international arrived from SC Freiburg in August 2018. He never made his breakthrough into the first team until this season after Harry Maguire’s departure to Manchester United.

Leicester City received £80m for Maguire. Instead of investing in a replacement, Soyuncu has stepped into the void and won plenty of plaudits for his performances in the Premier League.

The center-back’s displays have caught the attention of Manchester City which is looking forward to strengthening that area of the pitch.

Soyuncu has proved himself able to work the ball out from the back without gifting the ball to the opposition forwards or playing ludicrous square passes to invisible teammates.

He cost Leicester City £19m in the 2018 summer. So, he won’t come out cheaply.

Any move for Soyuncu would not likely come to fruition until next summer. Nevertheless, he could turn up to be a long-term partner for Laporte in defense.

Pep cannot help himself when it comes to full-backs. In respect to that, City may also move for Hearts’ Aaron Hickey.

The 17-year-old has been one of the few bright spots in an underwhelming start to the season for the Scottish Premier League side.
