Ilkay Gundogan has tipped his fellow Germany International Kai Havertz to hit top form in the English Premier League.

Gundogan is backing the Chelsea midfielder to find his feet and prove his worth. Havertz is struggling at the Blue to establish himself as a regular started after inconsistent form. Havertz has been in and out of the first-team at Stamford Bridge and Gundogan believes he has the potential.

The 21-year-old joined the Blues from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, and since then, he has only started 14 games. Havertz has scored one goal and provides two assists in Chelsea’s jersey.

Gundogan reveals that he is convinced it won’t be long before Havertz makes a “big statement.

Gundogan said after the Havertz notched an assist in Germany win against Romania. “Kai is exceptionally good technically.”

“I think it’s great that at his age he had the courage to take the step abroad.

“He’s played a lot of good games for Chelsea, but it is normal for everything not to work out in the first season.

Gundogan explains why his international team-mate Havertz won’t be long before he finds his feet in the Premier League.

“He has sensational qualities and will make a big statement in the Premier League,” Gundogan said after the Havertz notched an assist in Germany win against Romania.

Havertz hopes his international form continues and will spark an impression in his Coach ahead of West Bromwich Albion.

Meanwhile, Chelsea loan star and Lorient midfielder Trevoh Chalobah broke the silence on his loan spell. Trevoh has revealed he wanted to play abroad after his temporary loan spell at Ipswich Town.

“A lot of people thought I would go to a promotion-chasing side in the Championship or a team in the Premier League,” Chalobah said

“I just think there’s no rush to where I want to get to.

“From the first season at Ipswich, I wanted to play abroad.

“Now I’m playing against teams like PSG, Marseille, Lyon.” The 21-year-old Chelsea midfielder added.
