Manchester United created their downfall against Liverpool, Solskjaer
Liverpool crashed United 4-2 to boost their top-four fight and ends the Red Devils 3 games in five days. Solskjaer believes his team gifted Jurgen Klopp goals after they produce the worst defensive displays in recent memory.
The United boss believes at least three of all four goals were entirely preventable.
“We gave them three goals really. At least two of them we gave and when we scored again we got momentum. We had a massive double chance, key moments went against us,” Solskjaer said.
“We created our own…downfall because the second goal we’d probably expect no foul there because it’s not really a foul. But the referee probably gives a foul because Bruno’s up there [injured],” Ole claimed.
“It’s a bad moment to concede a goal in, just before halftime. And the start of the second half was really poor,” he added.
Notably, United misses their key defensive man in Harry Maguire’s absence who was seen on crutches in the stands.
Solskjaer said, “Harry’s been very important for us and really good. He’s been absolutely top since he came to the club so of course, we’re going to miss him.”
However, Solskjaer was quick to back his replacement defenders. He added they should be able to cope without the captain.
United boss added, “But he’s out so we’ve got to deal with that. We got good enough players to be able to deal with it.”
Now, Solskjaer shifts his focus on Tuesday’s clash with relegation battled Fulham and the return of the fans.
“I expect Tuesday to be a good one,” the Norwegian said.
“Hopefully when we can let the fans in on Tuesday it’ll be a good atmosphere here. We’ve been waiting for a long, long time to let them in. So it’s about time we enjoy a game together,” Solskjaer concluded.
