The Red Devils are preparing for life without De Gea and looking at Dominik as a possible replacement.

De Gea is in the final year of his contract. Despite an offering of a new £350,000 a week deal, the Spaniard has yet to commit his long-term future to the club.

Manchester United sent off a scout to watch at the Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic. They were captured during Dinamo Zagreb’s 2-0 win over Rosenborg in their Champions League playoff on Thursday.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has been capped six times by Croatia and helped his side win the league for the last two seasons. Dominik would reportedly be available for £20m.

United is not the only club monitoring the young Croatian goalkeeper. Liverpool and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on Livakovic who was a part of the Croatian squad that finished runners-up at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Livakovic performance the last season had his named the best Croatian goalkeeper and his form between the sticks has seen him claim the No 1 shirt for the National side from Monaco veteran Danijel Subasic.

Former United manager, Sir Ferguson brought De Gea to Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for £18.9m.

The Spaniard who has gone on to become one of Europe’s top goalkeepers, he has spent at Old Trafford for eight years and amassed 101 Premier League clean sheets in 278 appearances for the club.

De Gea kept a clean sheet in United’s season-opening 4-0 win over Chelsea. Although he conceded a goal in their 1-1 draw against Wolves, it was a long-range screamer from Neves that bounced in off the crossbar that ultimately beat him on the night.

However, De Gea made an error during United’s 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace. This cost the Red Devil’s an opportunity to salvage a point at home against the Eagles.

Palace took the lead thanks to Jordan Ayew as United struggled to break down a well-organized Palace defense.

United knew they had claimed a point when Daniel James curled in an equalizer in the 89th minute. Their thoughts never lasted. An injury-time goal from Patrick Van Aanholt beat De Gea at his near post secured all three points for the South London club. Manchester United lost the match.
