Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire may miss Europa League final
The United Captain suffered an ankle Ligament during the Aston Villa clash and sits out of Leicester city’s 2-1 defeat. However, the Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains hopeful that he will return. Solskjaer hopes his skipper will be fit ahead of the Europa League final trip to Gdansk against Villarreal.
While confirming the injury news, Solskjaer reveals that the defender didn’t suffer a fracture.
“The good news is it wasn’t broken, there was no fracture, but of course a ligament injury is serious,” Solskjaer revealed.
There is no doubt United will do everything they can to get their number five back on the truck but the Skipper’s may miss the final. However, Solskjaer remains optimistic he will be fit on time.
He says, “If I’m very positive, and that’s maybe stretching it, I’m hopeful he might be ready for it. I don’t think he’ll play in the league again but we’ll do everything we can to get him ready.”
Meanwhile, former Manchester United skipper Antonio Valencia announce he has hanged his boots. The Ecuadorian who won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and the Europa League, spent 10 years at United before leaving.
While confirming his retirement, Valencia wrote on Twitter, “I did not think this moment would come so soon. My body has asked me to retire from football.”
The former Wigan man says he will always have United memories in every aspect including the fans.
“I will never forget everything I experienced at Old Trafford. I will never forget every goal, every trophy, and the wonderful fans,” Valencia said.
“To fans of all the countries where I have played, I always tried to give my best. Thank you for your affection and support,” the former United skipper added.
