Marcelo Bielsa has denied reports that he is close to signing a two-year contract with Leeds United.

Marcelo Bielsa ignores origin

The Argentine newspaper reported that Marcelo is on the cusp of committing to a new deal that will see it remain on Elland Road until 2023. However, the 65-year-old insisted that the information was fake at Thursday’s press conference, while also revealing that it would provide an update on his future once a final decision was made between him and the club.

Marcelo Bielsa told reporters ahead of the Premier League Leeds meeting with Liverpool on Monday night that this information is not real. He ignores the origin. According to him, these are things, or the club can say, or he can say that they are the ones who own the information and if there was any information, he would give it.

Term of contract Marcelo Bielsa

Marcelo Bielsa is approaching the final two months of his current Elland Road deal and has previously said he will sit down with the Leeds back-roster to discuss his next move at the end of the season. The Argentine tactician was in a similar situation last year, but signed a 12-month extension a week before the 2020-21 campaign began.

Marcelo Bielsa’s achievements in Leeds

Marcelo took over the management reins at Leeds in 2018, and sent the team to the Championship play-offs in their first full season, only to see them suffer a semi-final defeat to Derby County.

White has bounced back from this frustration to get an automatic promotion to the Premier League as final-term championship winners, with Marcelo receiving most of the credit for ending the club’s 16-year banishment from the top race.

The entertaining style of play that was staple during his time in Yorkshire also proved to be successful in the Premier League, with Leeds now pushing for the top 10 finishes with just seven matches left to play.
