The report claims that Haaland’s father, former Norway international Alf-Inge, travelled with Raiola to consult the striker with an advisor to the new Barcelona president, Joan Laporta.

Zorc sees Haaland with BVB for a long time

BVB sporting director Michael Zorc has affirmed that he met with agent Mino Raiola on Wednesday to discuss Erling Haaland’s future. Following a report from Spain, Raiola went to Barcelona on Thursday to discuss Haaland’s move. The report claims that Haaland’s father, former Norway international Alf-Inge, travelled with Raiola to consult the striker with an advisor to the new Barcelona president, Joan Laporta. Zorc briefly answered the question about rumours. “I spoke to Mino Raiola yesterday,” he said. “We made our intention clear. The agent has long maintained Haaland will stay with Dortmund for at least one more season. We are planning for the long term with Erling. Rumours do not need to be dealt with at all,” Zorc said in November. “I can see Haaland with us for a long time.”

The Norwegian has scored 33 goals in 31 appearances for BVB

Last month, the sporting director reiterated his desire to keep Haaland: “I’ve never seen someone like him. We can search all over Europe. If he ever leaves us anywhere, there will only be a handful of clubs. But we will try to keep him as long as possible for sporting reasons”. BVB are well aware of the widespread interest in Haaland. Manchester City, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Man United among the teams said to be in the race. The Norway international has scored 33 goals in 31 games for Dortmund this season, including 10 in six in the Champions League, a form that has made him arguably the most coveted player in world football. Bayern Munich have indicated they have no intention of signing Haaland this summer. And CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists the Bavarians will not recruit another striker as long as Robert Lewandowski leads the frontline.

It was reported that Manchester City was the favourite to sign Erling. His father Alf-Inge played for them from 2000 to 2003, and Erling has been pictured wearing a City jersey as a youngster.
