Mikel Arteta welcomed Alexandre Lacazette’s decision and reiterated that the forward’s future will be decided in the summer.

His performance was phenomenal

The 29-year-old has put on some great performances recently, including a dramatic late EQ during a 3-3 draw with West Ham, with many believing he should start as center striker ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. And speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Liverpool, Mikel was interested in paying tribute to his forward in shape. When asked about the run since the turn of the year, the Arsenal boss said that he has been in very good shape for several months now and maintains this level, scoring goals. His performance was phenomenal. According to him, we need players who hit at the best level, because they lacked goals during the season, that creativity is in the final third, and they need these players to step in and make a difference for the team.

Players should have focused only on business

The France striker has one year left on a contract with Arsenal at the end of the season and has been linked to several clubs in recent weeks. Longtime fans of Atlético Madrid are believed to weigh the summer course, while Sevilla and Roma are also said to be interested. Mikel, however, is not worried and says that the decision to offer Lacazette a contract extension will be made once the current campaign ends. He is happy when people speculate and talk about their players, he said. His opinion means that they are doing well and therefore they receive attention from other clubs. He wants the players to be focused only on doing things and getting the best out of them for the team. Mikel admits that the next few months will play a big role in determining what the club can and cannot do when it comes to its plans this summer and how much money will be provided.
