Neymar had to be separated from Tiago Djalo in the tunnel after both were shown red cards during the loss to Paris Saint-Germain’s Lille.

What happened and how

With PSG lagging behind in the final couple of minutes, Neymar and Djalo skidded over the ball near the touchline before the latter was tied. In his rush to get the ball, Neymar pushed Djalo to the floor and was shown a second yellow card by the referee Benoit Bastien, while Lille was also dismissed for obscene rarity.

What were the Consequences

As the couple headed into the tunnel at the Parc des Princes, Neymar and Djalo continued their verbal sparring. The pair were followed into the tunnel by officials from both clubs, and the row became more intense. Neymar pushed Djalo and tried to run around those who were separating the two in an attempt to get to defender Lille, who was ready to face the Brazilian before he was brought into the home dressing room.

PSG has had a tough time this season

PSG hasn’t had easy things in Ligue 1 for this time frame, with Lille and Lyon putting up great title challenges. Lille’s Nimes’ loss before the international break opened the doors for PSG, which entered Saturday’s point-by-point game level. However, their surprise 1-0 loss thanks to a 20-minute goal from Jonathan David’s leaves them three points unaddressed and also faces star-less ahead of the suspension.

PSG may shift its focus away from the Ligue 1 title race this week as they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter finals. Bayern, who bolstered her domestic hand with a win over title rivals RB Leipzig on Saturday, will head into the first leg of the last-eight clash without injury star Robert Lewandowski. With domestic pressures rising, PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino could do well to ease the tension.
