Neymar was injured in a tackle from Mendes and was taken off the pitch on a stretcher as Mendes was sent off for the challenge although Lyon still won with a 1-0 against Paris St-Germain.
PSG faces an anxious wait to discover the severity of Neymar’s injury after he was stretched off in tears in the dying moments of his side’s defeat to Lyon.
The Brazilian suffered what looked like a serious ankle injury following a late challenge from Thiago Mendes which, on videos, showed the joint could be broken. The latter caught Neymar’s left ankle between his legs and was sent off after the VAR intervention.
Originally, Neymar was to visit the hospital on Sunday night for MRI scans. However, it was decided that their No.10 should wait until Monday morning to see how the ankle settles overnight according to Thomas Tuchel who confirmed the forward will have tests carried out on the suspected broken ankle he suffered during PSG’s defeat to Lyon on Sunday.
“He’s with the physio and the doctors we have to wait for the tests tomorrow (Monday)”. Said Tuchel.
As it is, PSG medical staff and insiders at the club are quite pessimistic about the results.
Entering Sunday, Neymar had scored seven goals in his last four games. This was actually the best stretch of the season. Neymar played a huge part in PSG turning things around and qualifying for the Champions League last 16.
