Milan technical director Paolo Maldini has confirmed that the club will suspend negotiations on contract extensions with all players until the end of the current campaign.

No one outside Milan can decide anything

The announcement comes amid reports that Gianluigi Donnarumma has been pressured by club supporters to fall behind ahead of their clash with Juve this weekend. Having spearheaded the race for the first Serie A title in more than a decade during the first half of the campaign, Stefano Pioli’s side now risks missing out in the top four entirely, and Paolo now insists that discussions will be held to ensure that the focus is solely on securing the Champions finish. League.

The 52-year-old said it is important to firmly reaffirm that no one outside Milan can decide who plays and who renews and the choice of service is up to the coach, while the club is in charge of contractual matters. From now on, all negotiations for a new contract extension have been put on hold for the rest of the season so that the team can focus on serving and in the meantime, they will continue to protect their players as they have always done.

To Keep players under control

The 22-year-old, who has established himself as the club’s first choice goalkeeper since the 2016-17 campaign, has spent his entire career with San Siro. However, with his recruitment contract to expire at the end of the current term, he has yet to negotiate a new deal amid speculation that he could move to Juve. With the Bianconeri one of Milan’s top rivals for the top four finishes and with two sides squared in seven days, the Rossoneri ultras reportedly faced the goalkeeper ahead of the win over Benevento to tell him to cut himself out of the meeting. Gianluigi is believed to have rebuffed their demand and started for the team with a win on Saturday to keep them firmly on the hunt for a spot in Europe’s top competition next season.
