‘The reason is the unprecedented situation created by the coronavirus pandemic’. The famous goalkeeper, Petr Cech ended his career last year and has been playing hockey ever since.
Chelsea in London made an unexpected decision and included 38-year-old goalkeeper Petr Cech, who ended his career after the 2018-19 season, in the squad for the Premier League. The English club explained its decision as follows:
“Inclusion in the Cech application was made for extreme cases. It’s somewhat self-insured because of the unprecedented situation created by the coronavirus pandemic. “Cech contract holder will take the place of one of the players.”
It is noteworthy that the Chelsea Premier League application has three more goalkeepers – Kepa Arrizabalaga, Willy Caballero and Edouard Mendy. However, given the scale of COVID 19, it is possible that the Czech veteran will have to go out on the field.
Recall that the Cech has spent most of his professional career in a London club. He defended the honor of Chelsea in 2004-15. The famous goalkeeper has won 15 titles, including four Premier League titles and also one Champions League. He spent 2015-19 at Arsenal, most recently trying his hand at a new role, defending the goal of semi-professional English hockey club Guildford Phoenix.
