Kylian Mbappe netted twice to tally 18 goals in Ligue 1 PSG 4-0 against Dijon, after last weekend’s disappointing 2-0 loss against AS Monaco.
Paris Saint-Germain eased 4-0 passed bottom club Dijon on Saturday to climb second and pressure the leaders, Lille. Despite the Parisian failing to score against Monaco last weekend, they were able to cruise past Dijon.
Goals from Moise Kean and Danilo Pereira added Mbappe’s goals to hand Mauricio Pochettino a 4-0 win. PSG bounced back from last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat to climb second and pressure leaders Lille. Lille is yet to play as they Strasbourg on Sunday.
Victory against Dijon relieved Pochettino, who have now won seven and lost two of PSG’s 10 league games in charge.
“I am very proud. We were very professional and it was important for us to get back to winning ways,” Pochettino said.
“The team needs to be more consistent in the league,” Pochettino added.
“Of course it is a mental thing, but it is also physical, it is about performance,” the Spanish said.
Mbappe, who was kept quiet by his old club Monaco last weekend, was able to find his foot again and scored a brace.
Former Tottenham Coach Pochettino boasts with an in-depth squad despite several stars missing, PSG manages to see-off Dijon on a 4-0 scoreline.
The Parisian was without Angel Di Maria Marco Verratti, Mauro Icardi, Leandro Paredes and Alessandro Florenzi. They also missed Gaston-Gerard along with long-term injury victim Juan Bernat.
“We have a big squad and we need to show that everyone can fight for their place,” Pochettino said.
Meanwhile, on-loan Everton striker Moise Kean makes a mark again. Kean. who kept his place in the starting line-up, opened the scoring inside six minutes from close range after being set up by Abdou Diallo.
Kean has now scored 15 times for PSG, and his form could tempt PSG to sign him permanently. They can convince him to make his loan move into a permanent transfer come the season’s end.
