The Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki is among the nominees for August’s Premier League player of the month. Born in 1990, Pukki is a Finnish professional footballer.

The Norwich striker enjoyed a dream start to his Premier League career. As part of his career, the Finn became the only 19th player to score in his first three appearances.

Six players have nominated for the August award. They include: Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne. Roberto Firmino of Liverpool and Burnley’s Ashley Barnes complete the nominations.

Sergio Aguero

This season’s top scorer netted in all four matches in August. He scored once against West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur before a double AFC Bournemouth. Additionally, Aguero scored two goals and an assist versus Brighton & Hove Albion.

Raheem Sterling

The Man City winger got off to a flying start. He scored the first opening-weekend hat-trick since Didier Drogba in 2010 in a 5-0 win at West Ham. Furthermore, he found the net against Spurs and AFC Bournemouth.

Kevin de Bruyne

The Belgian registered a league-leading five assists in the first four-match weeks. Consequently, Bruyne also scored in the 4-0 win over Brighton.

Roberto Firmino

Firmino was instrumental in a perfect start for Liverpool. He got two assists in the month and scored at Southampton and Burnley to become the first Brazilian to reach 50 goals in the Premier League.

Ashley Barnes

The Burnley striker scored in his three appearances of the season, getting a brace in the opening weekend win over Southampton, a strike at Arsenal and a long-range goal at Wolverhampton.

The Club Managers

City boss Pep Guardiola, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Crystal Palace’s Roy Hodgson and Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers are nominated for manager of the month.

Klopp has overseen the Reds’ 100% start to the league campaign while Rodgers has led Leicester to an unbeaten start.

Hodgson, who at 72 is the oldest manager in Premier League history. The manager saw his Palace side beat Manchester United for the first time in the top flight since 1991 when they won 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Pukki, who scored a hat-trick against Newcastle and struck Finland’s winner against Greece on Thursday, has already won the PFA fan’s player of the month award for August.

Aguero is this season’s top scorer with six goals from his opening four games for City, with Sterling matching Pukki’s five goals, while de Bruyne has provided a league-high five assists so far this term.

Meanwhile, Barnes has found the net four times for Burnley and scored in his first three appearances for the Clarets this season.

How to determine the winner

The public can help decide who wins Premier League players of the month. This is to be done by selecting your favorite on the EA SPORTS website by Monday 9th September.

The votes are then combined with those of the 20 club captains. A panel of football experts is left to decide the winner.
