There is something wrong going on with Real Madrid’s attacking line. Los Blancos had six forwards against Alcoyane and only goal came from a defender.

The big downhill after Cristiano’s departure

Everyone knew that Los Blancos could not handle the departure of Ronaldo easily. He was scoring around 50 goals every season for Royal club. It’s not easy to replace with just one or two regular forwards. Even Brazilian legendary forward Ronaldo was averaging 20 goals per season. Signing Luka Jovic and Mariano were main successes for Zidane’s Madrid but all in vain. Zidane did not give any of those forwards enough time to play. So, Karim Benzema was always in the starting line-up. He was playing in the position of center forward. Keep in mind Zidane once said that Karim is not a typical center forward, so why not give chances to Luka Jovic or Mariano?

Six forwards against Alcoyano

There is a big problem for Zidane’s team when it comes to scoring goals. Last season, Real Madrid won La Liga. Thibaut Courtois and Mendy’s workload was big, so they saved the season for Los Blancos. Real Madrid was different last season – the team was not scoring many goals but they were not conceding either. For instance, Real Madrid could score a goal and then look after the defense. It was Zidane’s plan to outwork with Messi’s Barcelona in the long-run. Last season the strategy was working but now Zidane’s team is really bad at defense. Team had six forwards against Alcoyano and none of them could change the game. Benzema, Hazard, Mariano, Vinicius, Vazquez and Asensio could not make any impact.
