The Bayern forward talked about the Golden Ball, which was canceled this year. In 2020, the 32-year-old Polish deserved this award in the first place.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has spoken of the “golden ball.” Recall that due to the difficulties caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, France Football will not award the prize to anyone this year. For its part, FIFA is still going to award the best player of the year, who will hand over the favorite to The Best.

The 32-year-old Polish footballer was asked if he could give himself the “Golden Ball” this year, to which he replied:

“Myself. We won everything we could with Bayern. However, I became the top scorer in every tournament: the Bundesliga, the German Cup, and the Champions League. Any player with my achievements, I think, would win the ‘Golden Ball.’

My reaction to the cancellation of this award? I have not thought about it. “We had a lot of games, and the priority for me was the Champions League. But I did not think about individual awards.”

Last season, Robert Lewandowski scored 55 goals and provided ten assists in 47 appearances for Bayern Munich.

The Pole will have another chance to win the title in September – Bayern and Sevilla will face each other in the game for the UEFA Super Cup.
