AS Roma confirms Paulo Fonseca will quit his coaching role at the club at the end of the current season.

Fonseca, who has guided Roma to this season’s Europa League semis, leaves significant results. The news comes just 5 days since Roma suffered a 6-2 loss to the Old Trafford outfit. Also, Roma welcomes Manchester United in the Europa League second-leg semifinals.

Roma Confirm. “Even if the results have not always been there on the pitch, we know that he has left many positive elements that will continue to help our development.”

“Like the many talented and young players he has encouraged and improved, and our progress in the Europa League this season. We are building a path to success at Roma and Paulo has played an important role in that,” the club added.

As rumors have it, Mauricio Sari is tipped to replace Fonseca at Roma but he is certain to leave. The Roma tactician echoed the club’s statement.

“Over these last two years we have experienced a number of highs and lows, but I have always given my all for this club and this city – a city that has always been so welcoming,” Fonseca said.

Confirming the news, the Roma coach insists the season isn’t over and there are still some important games remaining. However, he thanked the club, the players, and the fans for the collective work they have done.

“I would like to thank the Roma fans, the players, and all those who have helped us during this journey. We still have some very important games in front of us this season that we want to win,” he confirmed.

Roma heads to the Europa League second leg tie with one leg outside the final. Although this is football and anything can happen, they have a 4 goals deficit to overturns.
