Cristiano Ronaldo is determined to win more Ballon d’Or awards than his main rival Lionel Messi. He attempts to establish himself as the greatest player of all time in his career history.
The Portugal skipper and his Barcelona rival have each claimed the trophy for the world’s best player award. The two have been voted the best players in the world on five occasions. Nevertheless, Ronaldo seems not to be comfortable with that.
“I would love more and I think I deserve it.” Said the Juventus forward.
Ronaldo has won 15 trophies in nine years at Real Madrid including four Champions League titles. The 34-year-old hopes to be remembered as one of the best footballer’s football has ever seen.
“I am sure I am in the history of football as one of the greatest ever- for what I have done and what I’m continuing to do.”
Ronaldo has also won 145 individual records including Europe’s all-time top international goal scorer and the most goals scored in the UEFA Champions League all of which continue to spur him on at the age of 34.
Ronaldo on Messi
“Messi is a fantastic guy, a fantastic player. He is in the history of football. But I think I have to have six, seven or eight to be above him.”
“My relationship with him (Messi) is, we are not friends. But we have shared this stage for 25 years.”
“I have a good relationship with him and I know he has pushed me to be a better player. Also, I have pushed him too to be a better player as well.”
“I can’t control the liking of others. Some people like that player.”
“For me, I am number one in history. I know I am one of the greatest people in football history.”
Ronaldo doesn’t want to be remembered with the number on his back saying, “It’s not number seven but number one.”
