Matondo apologizes after wearing a Jadon Sancho’s BVB shirt

Schalke striker Rabbi Matondo apologized after wearing a Borussia Dortmund shirt emblazoned with Jadon Sancho’s name and number during a gym training session after a photo posted online. Matondo apologized on Instagram, with the 19-year-old said he didn’t want to cause “grief or trouble” to anyone. He wrote: “I am discouraged and disappointed that I let everyone who feels connected with Schalke. I was naive and put the shirt on for private training. The shirt was from my close friend Jadon Sancho. I only wore it for Jadon, and it had nothing to do with Dortmund.

“I did not think about the consequences and that it would annoy many people. There is no excuse for this immature behavior. I can promise every Schalke player that I have identified 100 percent from Schalke from the first day”. The photo was posted online by a gym in Cardiff, where Matondo trained, although it was later removed after an angry online reaction from Schalke fans.
