Garcia un-hung his boots for enjoying his football once again

Former Espanyol striker Sergio Garcia hasn’t played a professional football match since 2019 but signed Montanyesa had signed him alongside his good friend Joan Verdu. Ahead of this new adventure, Garcia has talked about his new club, Espanyol, and his admiration for Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique. First, he explained why he un-hung his boots and signed with the Spanish lower league team. “I felt like I want to play again and there is no better way to do it then with my friend Joan,” Garcia told reporters. “An opportunity to play together again in a friendly team, we hope to give this club and this area some fun. It’s not about the money, and it’s about enjoying your football again.”

Ramos and Pique are fantastic defenders

Garcia also spoke about his time and love for Espanyol. “I went to Espanyol on a free transfer and was there for many years, the people loved me, and I loved the club,” he said. “I don’t like to see them in this situation, but I believe they have some good players in the team. The second division is long and difficult, but they started well. And I believe they have a team to bounce straight back up”. Sergio Garcia also declared his admiration for Sergio Ramos and Gerard Piqué. “Ramos is very competitive, and he will continue that way,” he said when asked about Ramos. “Every day, he showed that for me, he is the best central defender. Pique is also a fantastic defender”. Garcia concluded by talking about his great memories of being part of the Euro 2012 team in Austria.

“To have the opportunity to live the experience I lived in Austria and win the European Championship with the national team was priceless,” he said.
