The DFB must speed up their pursuit of Hansi Flick, said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
Flick has been touted as the leading candidate to replace Joachim Low as Germany’s next manager after Euro 2020.
According to Rummenigge the DFB must speed up the negotiations with Flick
The German Football Association should speed up their pursuit of Hansi Flick, said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who says the Bayern Munich coach will be “in great demand” this summer. Flick has been touted as the leading candidate to replace Joachim Low as Germany’s next manager after Euro 2020. The DFB has already confirmed that it has had initial negotiations with the 56-year-old. Still, a final agreement has yet to be reached, and Rummenigge has warned that he will have many other options to consider if negotiations do not move forward soon. “Hansi would be perfect for the DFB,” the Bayern CEO told reporters. “One can only strongly urge that they conclude this personnel matter quickly. Hansi is a coach in high demand for his success. There would be a lot of drama at the end of the day if he went somewhere else in Europe and not to the DFB.”
The Bayern coach wants to continue being a coach
The Bayern boss will step down from his role at the end of the season, having decided to cut his deal short by two years to take up a new challenge in a new environment, with RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann chose to fill his spot in the Allianz Arena dugout. He declined to confirm whether that next will see him join up the German national team when expressed on his future after Bayern’s 6-0 win over Monchengladbach on Saturday but admitted that he is open to moving into international coaching. “I want to continue being a coach and working with a team that is capable of winning titles. It’s a lot of fun,” Flick told reporters. “It is my absolute opinion that I have a club or a country to train that is capable of winning trophies.”
Urged on whether he could return to the Bavarians in the future, he added: “I can imagine that a lot. That cannot be ruled out. Bayern Munich is my club.” In the space of only one and a half-season, Flick has established himself as one of the best managers in European football, directing Bayern Munich to seven major trophies, including two Bundesliga crowns and the Champions League.
