We present to you another Goal Post episode. In this episode, we are going to review the 25th match week of the Premier League. We chose only three matches – Leicester City V Chelsea, Tottenham V Manchester City, and Manchester United V Wolves.
Leicester City 2-2 Chelsea
It was a crucial match for Frankie Lampard. The legendary player is the coach of Chelsea, and he wanted to catch up with Leicester. Keep in mind that Leicester is the third team in the Premier League, and Chelsea is fourth. The difference between teams was only 8 points, and Chelsea wanted to come close to Leicester.
Frank Lampard started the match with four attacking players. It was a fascinating fact to see Pedro playing from the starting line-up again. Lampard chose Odoi and Tammy Abraham from the start as the strikers. Chelsea was very sharp in the first half but could not score the goal.
Everything changed in the second half. The first goal came in the first minute of the second half. Chelsea players crossed the ball in the box, and Rudiger scored the header. It was a beautiful header as the goalkeeper of Leicester could not save the shot. Keep in mind that Rudiger was playing correctly in defense, but the team conceded two goals from Leicester.
Leicester City scored two goals after conceding one from Chelsea. It was a perfect come-back, but Leicester could not keep up with the lead. Everything started with Barnes, and then Chilwell gave a lead to the team. Chelsea could come up with another goal in the 71st minute. The defender scored a game-tying goal, and the match ended 2-2.
Manchester United 0-0 Wolves
It was another boring home match from Manchester United. As you may know, Marcus Rashford is injured and can’t help the team. English youngster was the only forward that could make an impact on the stadium. Keep in mind that Marcus scored many goals for Manchester United this season, but injury happened in a terrible moment.
It was exciting to match from the standpoint of the time-table. Manchester United is in 7th position while Wolves sits flat on 8th position. Keep in mind that both teams have the same amount of points, and the match was right to take the lead in the Premier League.
It was the first match between Bruno Fernandes. Portuguese players left Sporting after so many years. It was the most significant transfer in the January window. Bruno could not make a serious impact as teams have not scored any goals.
After the match, Ole was very upset. He said that the team needs to be destroyed and built from the start. Ole said that Manchester United players need to understand the qualities of the team. Ole believes that the current squad has few players who would make it in Manchester United, but many players don’t deserve to wear the badge of MU. As it seems, the coach is not happy with the current situation and wants to make big changes in the summer of 2020.
Tottenham 2-0 Manchester City
The last and decisive match of the 25th week happened on Sunday evening. Manchester City played against the North London team and could not take any points from there.
Tottenham had a lousy time in the hands of Pochetino. After Jose’s arrival, Tottenham is getting more points every week. As of now, Tottenham is the fifth team and can get closer to Chelsea. There is only a four-point gap between Tottenham and Chelsea.
We should note the performance of the new player. Tottenham signed a young Dutch player from Feyenoord. Bergwijn got the chance to start the match from Jose, and he has confirmed the importance of attacking the player.
Manchester City got the right to shoot the penalty in the first half. Unfortunately for Pep Guardiola, Gundogan could not use this chance and missed the penalty.
Everything changed in the second half when Tottenham players started attacking sharply. Bergwijn scored his first goal soon after the start of the second half. Dutch player got assistance from Lucas Moura and scored a beautiful goal. On 71st minute, another forward of Tottenham scored the goal. Son got the ball from Ndombele and scored a stunning goal too. Overall, Jose Mourinho did a better job in the second half, and Tottenham got a comfortable win against Manchester City.
