It was a deal that completely shook the world of football, among all the transfer fees and negotiations Spurs Chairperson Daniel Levy made sure to put a certain clause into Gareth Bale’s contract.
As reported by The Mirror earlier in August Daniel Levy made sure that the club had the first chance option of signing their former player. Which means if a club bids on the Welsh man Tottenham would have 72 hours to match that offer.
Months after the reports of the clause, Team Talk are claiming that chairperson Daniel Levy is willing to pay up £54 million to sign their former winger which is far below what Real Madrid paid to sign Gareth Bale in the first place.
Ever since his arrival in Spain he has had his fair share of ups and downs. As the fans are struggling to completely fall in love with him despite the fact that Bale hasn’t done much wrong.
Bale has been in Jose Mourinho’s plans for quite some time now and his quotes regarding the Welsh man certainly did raise some eyebrows.
Mourinho praised the former Southampton and Tottenham winger when speaking to the reporters.
Jose Mourinho said by means of BBC Sport that he will ‘battle with other coaches’ and will sit tight for Bale ‘at the departure gate’ on the off chance that he isn’t in Zidane’s future plans:
“He is in the plans of the coach and the club, and it is in his own plans and ambitions to stay there, then I won’t even think about it. If he is not in the club’s plans and it is true that a player like Bale is at the departure gate, I will try to be there waiting for him at the other side.”
