Barcelona could not win the game against Valencia. Lionel Messi and his squad were ready to tear-up Valencia’s defense but the goalkeeper was on point. Barca lost many points in the first round of the Primera Division.

 

Valencia in a bad form

As you may know, Valencia won the game against Real Madrid in November. Team scored four goals against Los Blancos and it was a top-game for the team this season. After that game, Valencia could not take three points in five matches in a row. Fans were not happy with the results and they wanted a good win against Barca to get a good mood. Unfortunately to Valencia’s fans, the team was winning but could not keep up with Barca’s attacking line. 

Lionel Messi missed penalty but scored after that

Ronald Koeman started the match with Messi as the main striker. Lionel was playing from the deep also, but mostly he was in the box. Pedri, Griezmann, Coutinho and Braithwaite were helping Messi to score goals. In the first half, Valencia started the match better than Barca. Valencia opened the score-line after the goal of Diakhaby. Guest team was ready for the referee’s whistle when Griezmann played perfectly in the box of Valencia. Defenders of Valencia stopped Griezmann with the foul. Referee pointed to the penalty spot and Messi took the ball. Lionel Messi missed the penalty but after the rebound, he scored an easy header. 

In the second half, Barca started playing aggressively in the attacking line. Barca scored a goal soon and Messi changed his mood. Unfortunately to Barca’s fans, Valencia did not accept the results and players went for the second goal. Gomez scored the goal in the 69th minute and equalized the result. It was a perfect moment for Valencia to change the strategy and play from the deep midfield. Valencia was controlling the rhyme of the game until the end of the match. Lionel Messi’s team lost two more points.
