The French media reported that Paris Saint-Germain wanted to buy the central defender. The 28-year-old has a contract with Liverpool until the summer of 2023. Under the agreement, Van Dijk will receive 180,000 Pounds a week.

According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain offered the defender 100,000 pounds more, a total of 280,000 pounds. But Virgil refused because Liverpool are offering him a new contract.

Under the agreement, Van Dijk will stay at the Merseyside club for another five years until the end of the 2024-2025 season. The British will pay Virgil 220,000 a week, which is 57 million in total. So, according to the new contract, he will become the highest-paid player in the club after the agreement. Van Dijk will overtake Mohamed Salah, who earns 200,000 a week.

Although PSG were ready to pay more to the central defender, the Dutchman decided to continue his career in England. In addition to the contract of Virgil Van Dijk, the Liverpool leadership is also working on the contracts of Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum.
