Today, Mourinho and Guardiola meet in the central match of the tour. Tottenham are in good shape; Manchester City have staffing problems.

After the national team break, the English Premier League will resume with the matches of the 9th round. The central confrontation of which will take place at the Tottenham Stadium in London – the “Spurs” will host Manchester City.

Both teams are a real contender to get into the TOP4 at least this season. So, a very interesting match awaits the fans. It is noteworthy that Jose Mourinho and Josep Guardiola, one of the most ambitious and distinguished specialists in modern football, will face each other – for the second time this year. Their last duel took place in February and then the “Spurs” won 2: 0. Since then, a lot of things have changed.

Tottenham Hotspur

The “Spurs” were still able to get in shape before the team pause, and after three wins in a row in the Premier League, they rose to the second position in the tournament table. Now Mourinho’s team is one point behind leader Leicester.

It is noteworthy that Mourinho’s players play with extraordinary results – goals are scored everywhere and always: the pair of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min has reached a new height, Gareth Bale is slowly getting in shape. The team has already scored 19 goals in the championship, which is equal to almost 2.5 goals in 90 minutes.

The break caused by international matches did not have a bad effect on the Tottenham staff. On the contrary, several players were given the opportunity to recover after a busy October-November stretch. Only two were unable to heal from their injuries – Tanganga and Lamela, while newcomer Doherty was diagnosed with coronavirus and will have to spend some time in self-isolation.

Manchester City

The “Cityzens” are still unable to show the game that the fans expect from him – modest wins are replaced by draws. Guardiola’s players are only 10th in the table and are 6 points behind the leader. However, they have one match to play.

Winning the championship battle with a direct rival would boost City’s confidence. But achieving the desired result will be even more difficult given the staffing problems Guardiola has.

Forward Sergio Aguero is still not feeling well, while the second leader of the attack, Raheem Sterling, got an injury in the England team and will most likely not be able to play on Saturday. Guardiola should also have no hope for defenders: Nathan Ake and Benjamin Mendy, midfielder Fernandinho.
