Wojciech Szczesny: Did not speak to Juve or any other club
Szczesny will try to answer once and for all
Wojciech spent the last four years of his career reading Juventus books, breaking away from Arsenal by € 12 million in the summer of 2017. The 31-year-old scored the role of the Bianconeri’s number one goalkeeper, winning numerous major trophies in Italy, but it has been suggested that the club may be willing to cash in on the seasoned performer in the summer window. Wojciech Szczesny is oblivious to speculation about his future amid ties to returning to Roma, where he played on loan between 2015 and 2017. During a press conference on the eve of Euro 2020, the Polish international said that he knows that this has been in the media for a long time, so he will try to answer this question once and for all. According to Szczesny he has not spoken to Juve or any other club because there is nothing to discuss about the departure and that Wojciech is not responsible for Juve’s transfer strategy.
Activities of Wojciech Szczesny in Juve
Wojciech has amassed 137 appearances in all competitions for Juventus over the past four seasons, recording 54 blank slates while delivering just 124 goals. The former Arsenal shooter has helped the club win three Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia crowns and two Supercoppa Italiana’s, establishing himself as one of the most consistent defenders in Italian football. Wojciech has been battling competition from Gianluigi Buffon to remain Juventus’ first-selected netminder last season, but his position may not be secured after the summer window. Although Buffon has already announced its decision to leave, the Bianconeri have strong ties to Milan star Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the month. Wojciech Szczesny still has three years left on the Allianz Stadium, but his place on the team could be in serious jeopardy if Juventus manages to bring Gianluigi Donnarumma free ahead of the 2021/22 campaign – the 22-year-old being widely regarded as one of the the best guardians in European football.
