The 28-year-old Liverpool striker Xherdan Shaqiri recalls the years when he first saw Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima play, and since then, the Brazilian has become his idol.

As Shaqiri says, he is a big fan of Ronaldo, and when Brazil lost to France at the 1998 World Cup, he cried a lot because he wanted his idol to win the Cup.

Shaqiri’s statement was published by GOAL:

“When I first saw Ronaldo play, I was amazed. He became my idol, and I was a big fan of him. What he did on the pitch was incredible for me.

In 2002, I decided to wear exactly the hairstyle he had, and that’s how I went to school. Friends looked at me in amazement, but I was proud of that.

Meeting him will be great happiness for me. I remember when Brazil lost the 1998 World Cup final to France, I cried a lot because I wanted Ronaldo to raise the Cup. Luckily he was able to do it twice later, and I was overjoyed.

I have never tried to imitate him for his style because I think every player should have an individual character. To be honest, I have never thought I would have such a career. Sometimes I miss my family members. Look at where I play and how many important titles I have won. It’s just a great feeling,” – Shaqiri said.

Liverpool are ready to let Shaqiri go.

Xherdan Shaqiri will most likely leave Liverpool in the summer. As the Italian Calciomercato writes, Roma, Sevilla, and CSKA want to attract the 28-year-old striker.

According to the same source, the Merseyside club is ready to sign the Swiss winger, but in exchange for 18 million pounds.

Xherdan Shaqiri moved to Liverpool from Stoke City in the summer of 2018 for 17 million euros. The Swiss player took part in 40 matches with the “Reds” T-shirt and scored 7 goals and 5 assists. Shaqiri also managed to win the Champions League with Liverpool last season.
