Zidane stays at the club next season

Zinedine Zidane will lead Real Madrid next season. In a debate at the end of the LaLiga campaign, the Frenchman and Florentino Perez agreed the former would stay on a head coach beyond the summer. Los Blancos’s 34th league title has dispelled any remaining doubts about Zidane’s future. So his second spell at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu will continue into a 2020/21 season. “Zidane is a blessing for Real Madrid,” Florentino said once Sergio Ramos had lifted the LaLiga trophy last Thursday night. Zidane has two years left on his deal at Real Madrid, but contracts have never been an obstacle. He retired as a player with one year remaining on his contract with Real Madrid. And he stepped down as manager in 2018 after winning his third Champions League win in a row.

Zidane singled out LaLiga as the trophy he wanted to win last summer, and he’s delivered it. There were awkward moments after the defeat at Real Mallorca and before the trip to Istanbul to play Galatasaray. But the Frenchman went through it. After losing to Manchester City and Real Betis earlier in 2020, he bounced back again after being forced out of season by the coronavirus. With his future secured, Zidane can now look forward to next season. He knows he has decisions about his line-up, and situations involving Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez, among others, need to be resolved.
