The Swedish striker is currently nursing a knee complaint and will not feature in the next two games of Serie A.

Stefano Pioli about Zlatan

Milan boss Stefano Pioli provided an encouraging update on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s latest injury that the Swedish striker is only nursing a mild knee sprain. The 39-year-old frontman was ousted after 66 minutes of the Rossoneri’s 3-0 win over Juve. Since then, Zlatan has undergone medical tests and although he was dropped from Milan’s next two fixtures, Pioli suggested he might return before the 2020-21 season drew to a close. Begging for the latter at Zlatan at a press conference ahead of Torino on Wednesday, Stefano said the only bad news is his injury, a slight knee sprain and will not be available tomorrow and Sunday against Cagliari. Let’s see what will happen next week.

Zlatan’s come-back

There is no timetable imposed on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s recovery, but his knee complaint does not seem to be as bad as feared the first time. The sight of his confrontation with Juventus has led some to speculate that his season might be over and that it might be a fight to make Sweden into this summer’s European Championship. The veteran forward retired from international retirement to grace that tournament, with its attractions also set for the 2022 World Cup. Will desperately add 118 caps to his battering ram and, having already undertaken a new contract with Milan for next season, is unlikely to rush back ahead of schedule. Stefano Pioli could make do with having Zlatan at his disposal, although with a man who boasted 17 goals to his name in 2020-21 is now unable to help the Rossoneri quest secure Champions League qualifications, completing the top four in Serie A.
